Read before rinsing
Start with the maker’s care instructions because water resistance varies. A waterproof toy can usually be rinsed; a splash-resistant one may need a damp cloth, especially around its charging port. Switch it off and remove batteries or detachable parts where instructed. If the material is not clearly named, do not improvise with strong cleaners. Keep the packaging or save the care page so the right method is easy to find later.
Keep the wash gentle
For many non-porous surfaces, warm water and mild, unscented soap are enough. Work carefully around seams and textured areas, then rinse away every trace. A compatible toy cleaner can be convenient when its label matches the material. Avoid household disinfectants, perfume, oils, or boiling unless the maker explicitly permits them. Sharing or switching body areas calls for an appropriate barrier and a fresh clean between uses.
Dry before storing
Pat the surface with a clean, lint-free cloth and let hidden seams air-dry fully. Moisture trapped in a pouch or closed drawer can create odor and damage charging contacts. Store each item separately in its own breathable bag so different materials do not rest against one another. Keep it away from direct sun, radiators, dust, and sharp objects. Coil charging cables loosely rather than wrapping them around the toy.
Do a quick check next time
Before each use, look for cracks, peeling, swelling, a changed smell, or a cable that no longer sits securely. Retire an item if its surface has changed or its electronics behave unpredictably. Charge on a clear, dry surface with the supplied cable, and unplug when complete. A small routine—inspect, wash, dry, store—takes only minutes. It keeps care from becoming a chore and helps a favorite object stay ready.
