Measuring for the ring

Measure the circumference around the base of the penis and behind the testicles while soft, using a soft tape or a strip of paper. Divide by 3.14 to get the diameter, and choose the ring closest to that number. A ring that is too tight is the most common problem; if you are between sizes, try the larger one first.

How long to wear it at first

Start with an hour or two while you are awake and can check on yourself. Build up slowly over days, not hours. Take it off at once if you feel pain, numbness, tingling, cold skin or see colour change, and always keep the key where you can reach it.

Cages with a urethral tube

Some metal cages come with a thin urethral tube. It is for experienced users only. Clean it thoroughly before and after every use, use a sterile water-based lubricant, never force it, and leave it out if you feel any discomfort.

Keeping it clean

Take the cage off to wash it with warm water and mild soap, and wash and dry the skin underneath, every day it is worn. Dry the cage fully before putting it back on. Check the edges and lock for sharp spots or damage each time.
